AMUSEMENTS.

EVERYBODYS’ PICTURES.

TO-NIGHT ONLY.

“MEET THE WIFE.”

Clever lines, downright funny situations and a peppy, sophisticated plot combine to make “Meet the Wife,” which opens to-night at the Princess Theatre, a highly diverting piece of entertainment. Based upon the Broadway stage hit, the play has gained a great deal in its transition to the screen. The unconventional climax, coming as a complete surprise, sends the audience home refreshed, amused and jubilant. The central figure of the story is a charming matron who through circum- ' stances that take control of her, finds herself in the position of having two husbands under one roof Sharing roofs might not have been so embarrassing, but when the current husband is deprived of his own rooms by a super-effi-cient butler, for the comfort of the former incumbent of the lady’s affections, the situations elevate themselves to the height of absurdity with a rapidity that makes the audience gasp for breath, in between paroxysms of laughter. Lanya La Plante portrays the wife; Lew Cody is seen as the first husband; Joan Marsh has the role of his sister; the second husband is playN ed by Harry Mvers. William Janne.y arid Claud Allister also give splendid performances. “Meet the Wife.” produced by Christie for Columbia Pictures, was directed by A. Leslie Pearce, Good supports.
