SECOND VISIT
THIEVES HAVE MEAL, AUCKLAND, April 13. For the second time within a month thieves entered the premises of SelfHelp Co-operative Groceries, Ltd., at Three Lamps, Ponsonby, and stole a quantity of cigarettes, tobacco and groceries, as well as having a meal in the shop. The theft was discovered by the manager when he went to open the shop next morning
'The thieves gained entrance by forcing a bar from a small back window, which had been barred ats the result of previous burglaries. They left by the back door, which was found open. Goods worth between £8 and £9 were taken, the greater portion being cigarettes and tobacco packed with coupons. A number of other packets which had been torn open for coupons were left lying on the floor. The thieves had a meal of tinned fruit and sardines on the counter.
The shop was visited under similar circumstances three weeks ago, when the thieves also had a meal, while five months ago an unsuccessful attempt was made to break in.
