GIRL’S FATAL END
SYDNEY MURDER
CRIME SOLUTION A MYSTERY.
(Australian Press Association.)
SYDNEY, April 14
The battered body of Doratny Denzel was lifted’ from its shallow grave in the bush three miles from Liverpool co-day. The police had kept a vigil overnight, their object being to allow theffixperts to obtain all of the available evidence by daylight tiiat would bo likely to afford clues to the muru-
erer. It was quickly evident that the girl had met tile came terrible fate as i.er male companion. Wilkin,.on, with whom she went for a motor ride last Tuesday week. The girl’s features were practically obliterated, she having been shot at • close range with a shot gun. It, i,s regarded as possible that she also was outraged before her death. The body was practically naked, except for a woollen pull-over and a piece of dress was drawn tightly round the neck. The remainder of her clothing was missing: . As in the case of Wilkinson, her hands were tied behind her back with strips of rug. The police are of the opinion that the girl was brutally murdered within ten feet of her grave, hloodstrmv indicating the position where she fell. Owing to heavy rain since the crime was committed, all footprints have been obliterated. One of the girl’s shoes was found in the grave, and one of her stockings on the way leading to tlie grave. Twenty feet from the spot the police found pellets of shot and portions of a human skull. These and other grim relics were gathered by tlio police to assist in tracing the murderer: The motive of the crime is a complete mystery. The only theory i« that the person or persons responsible wanted to steal the car, which is a sporting Alvis. It is thought that Wilkinson put up a fight, and was rendered unconscious and killed, and that the girl was gagged, outraged and finally killed in order to escape all possibility of indentification.
