SCENES AT WEMBLEY. ENGLAND DEFEAT SCOTLAND. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, April 9. The international Association foothall match between England and Scotland was played yesterday at the Wemhlev Stadium. There was a great crowd present. The result of the match was a victory for England by three goals to nii. A crowd of forty thousand Scots descended upon London to reinforce the thousands of their compatriots here, and they turned the scene about the Wemble.v arena into a tartan carpet, which broke into violent eruption as the Scottish players appeared. Tam o' shunters, umbrellas, and tartan scarves wore hurled into the air— regardless of the cost. There was a roar of apnlausc which was blended with the skirling of bagpipes, the streaming of month organs, and the reverberating of rattles, which split and startled the Southern welkin.
'thousands of nationally-dressed Scottish lassies brightened the scene, while one enthusiast conducted a bagpipe hand with a whisky bottle as a baton.
One trainload of visitors, coining from Inverness, will have travelled 1136 miles by the time they return home.
