EXCELSIOR CLUB.

ANNUAL AIEETING HELD

The annual meeting of the Excelsior Club was J held last evening in Keller's' Sample Rooms, before a good attendance of members. Mr H. M. Coulson (President) was in the chair. F The annual report congratulated the \ Club on a very successful past season. Although at times it was very awkward for players to 'travel, the Club was- in the fortunate position of having a number of privately owned carsdat its disposal which, at all times/ allowed them to field a strong team. .The senior team were runners up in their grade after being defeated by Cobdcn in a very even and good display of rugby. The senior seven-a-side was again won by Excelsiors, making them khe holders of the Toohey Cup. The junior team did not do very well, at times- finding it very difficult to field a full fifteen, and towards the latter end of the season they, failed altogether. Representative honours were gained by six seniors in Coast" matches, while M, Davidson was selected to play in the SecTdon .Shield district v. New South Wales at Nelson, he worthily upholding past honours, Notwithstanding hard times th»y Club did not fare so badjy financially,. { fhe season's operations showing a small debik of -£l 4s 0d vHiich must be considered very, satisfactory, During the, season the Ciub were the guests of the President at his residence and u very enjoyable evening resulted, The Club'sthanks are due to the ladies' committee J ' for their valued support at the annual ib-aIL to Mr W. Keller for the use of his rooms for meeting purposes, to -Mr Pridmore for his valuable services on the field, to car. owners wh.o helped so well when the team was travelling, and to all others who hqd assisted the Club during the season.

The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Air H. AI. Coulson; patron, Mr AI. Houston; vice-pre-sidents 1 ,, last veqr’fs re-elfected with the addition of Afe-ssrs Gillman, Hall, and Do-well, and Drs. Wilson and Hart; secretaries, Messrs A. Stevenson and R. McDonald; club captain, Air L. Hughes, field captain, Air AI. Davidson; vice-captain, Air R. King; committee., Alessrs C. Preston, R. King, L Ross, A. Thompson; selection committee, captain, vice-captain, L. Hughes, and AY. Ross. Votes of thanks were passed to all who had assisted the Club during the past season and the meeting terminated with a hearty vote of thanks to the chair.
