WELLINGTON, April i>.
John Schumacher, aged 24, labourer, and Sydney See wood, aged 43, plasterer, were remanded- to appear at Palmerston North on Friday, on charges connected with an affair in which Charles Joseph Williams wag the victim of assault and robbery. Schumacher was charged with robbing Williams of £55 in money, and using violence, and fieewood was receiving from Schumacher £l4, he knowing it had been dishonestly obtained. •

In the Police Court to-drty oil charge's of taking bets, Lkotuivd J.Ptilio Little, n barman, was fined £K>; Charles Henry Paul, a. eyclo dealer, £7 IQs; Thomas Hanley, a. barman, £3O; John Sinclair Clark, a barman, £l7 10?: John Reid, a barman, £10; and William McQueen, £lO. On a charge of street betting, Thomas Alphonsus Garvey wa® fined £2O. On charges of using their shops as gaming houses, Thom a® Potter and Isaac Henry Curtis, hairdressers, were fined £3O each.
Edward Kennedy wa® fined £2 for betting with a bookmaker.
INTOXICATE!) DRIVER.
WELLINGTON, April 5
Lancelot William Rogers, aged 33, following taking isome whisky at the winding-up of a social club, and having a motor collision with a taxi standing at a taxi stand, was fined £2O for being intoxicated when in charge of a. car.
