An effort to secure consideration by Parliament this session of a, Gaining Amendment Bill, which is designed to legalise, bookmajpng, lias been made. bv Mr H T. Armstrong (Lab., Christchurch East). The Bill has been read a first time, but it is not. likely to proceed further unless a special concession is made, for- the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes has indicated that- it is not proposed to gra,nt. facilities,,Tor private, ing the, emergency session.
