TOURIST GAOLED

COCKTAIL SHAKERS AS BOMBS. LONDON, April 2. The experience of a German tourist recently set all Venice laughing. The visitor had in his luggage two Viennese cocktail shakers, brought as gifts for friends in Venice. Unfortunately these shakers are shaped somethng like a. bomb, and when the Italian Customs officers saw these sus-picious-looking objects their gravest suspicions* were aroused. All the tourist’s protestations of their innocent purpose were of no avail, and he was locked up in a room until a high official was called, when the “bombs” were taken to pieces with the greatest care. Only after a long examination were the cocktail shakers given back to the discomfited owner* who was still an object of suspicion when he was allowed to continue his journey.
