WEDDING BELLS
v HILSON—MABIN. A wedding of interest solemnised at the Cathedral on Easter Monday. There was a very large attendance (says the' Nelson Mail). The bride was ..Miss Grace Evelyn Mabin, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. E. B. Mabin, of Nelson, and the bridegroom, George Alastair MacKinlay Hilson, second son of Mr and Mrs W. E. Hilson of Fendalton, Christchurch. The ceremony was performed by the Dean of Nelson (the Very Rev. O. F. Askew.
The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a very graceful gown of parchment satin cut on classical lines with tight fitting sleeves pointing over the wrists* A tulle veil with its cap of hand : m'ade lace. and dainty sprays ■of orange blossom on either side, was, worn over the face when she entered the church. . Carrying a sheath of cream gladioli and a spin agus fern, she made a very beautiful
picture. Three bridesmaids attended the Misses Beth Mabin, sister of the Jjide, ilargaret Hilson, sister of the fidegroom, and Hildred Morrin, ol lenheim. They were charmingly / gowned in cream satin frocks, cut on - the same lines as the bride’s frock, over which they wore cherry coloured velvet coatees. Their shoes, necklaces and head bands matched their coatees., and they carried sheaths of .red and. cream gladioli. Broughton Beauchamp, of Christchurch, was best mail and the groomsmen were Messrs John Billings and Moore Renton, both of Christchurch. Messrs Peter Tlionis and Victor Mabin acted as ushers. After the ceremony a reception was held at, the residence of the bride’s parents, Ngatitama Street. Mrs.jYJabin Vreceived her guests wearing a model frock of autumn tinted embossed georgette with a hat to tone and her bouquet was of autumn tinted flowers Mrs Hilson, mother of the bridegroom, wore a. handsome ensemble of nigger brown georgette and lace and bat to match. Mrs G. H. Harris, sister of the bride, wore a saxe-blue frock with a hat to tone. Later Mr and Mrs Alastair Hilson left on. their wedding tour. The bride wore a. smart brown flecked frock of heavy crepe-de-chine, with a felt hat to match and a coat of musquash fur. They were the recipients of many valuable presents.
