LUNAR ECLIPSE
OBSERVANCES AT SYDNEY

SYDNEY, March 23
The Lunar eclipse latst night wais one of the finest ever observed here. Ninety-seven per cent, of the surface affected turned a copper colour in tho earth’s shadow. Beginning at eight o’clock it reached the maximum at 10.32 p.m. and ended at one o’clock in tlie morning. The atmosphere was dear and many photographs were obtained. THE INSURANCE COMPANIES. CANBERRA,'March 22. From to-day, insurance companies operating in Australia are requited to lodge with the Commonwealth Government securities lor the protection oi policy holder*.
STATE GOVERNMENTS’ ACTION
SYDNEY, March 23.
The Victorian and Tasmanian Governments have decided to co-operate in intervening in the '.High Court action now being heard at Me!bourne, in wliiih (New South Wales seeks a declaration that the whole Commonwealth Financial Agreement Enforcement Act is invalid. Queensland, South Australia, and West Australia -are taking no action.
