Sir John -Simon (Foreign Minister?, replying to questions in the House of Commons, said that the subject of closer economic relations between the Danubian States, with a view to assisting their financial recovery, was under the active consideration of the Powers principally interested, including Britain. He would make no announcement at the moment, but gave an assurance that the work of tne Ottawa Conference could not be prejudiced. Commenting on the negotiations for the closer economic uniom of the Danubian States, “The Times” says: if the French plan is not accepted, some other plan must be devised and set in motion. It is the British experience that the strongest and' most durable institutions are thoee which have expanded naturally.
