NEW ROUTE
FOR NIT- RUAPEHU CLIMBER'S

In an interview to-day with Mr W. (Robertson; Under-Secretary, for Lands, and Chairman of Tolrgaru-o National Park Board, it was stated that, at Friday‘si meeting of the Board, Mr T. .A, Blvth, of Ohakune, a member of ithe Board, reported that he had poled a new route for traiupevs along 'the western slopes of Mount Ruapehu. Which would make that- side of the mountain much safer. The route extends along the tussock and scoria level from the Ohakune Hut and joins the Chateau mountain track at ithe lower scoria flat, a distance of about eleven miles. The work cost £SO. and 4s being paid out of the Mayor of 'Auckl and’sS ea rch ers’ Fund.
