ANONYMbUS GIFT.
£60,000 TO BUILD HOSPITAL
LONDON March 17. An anonymous benefactor has promised a gift of more than £60,000 to Wakefield, Yorkshire. He recently called on tne town clerk, Air T. N. Grimshaw, and the medical officer of health, Dr T. Gibson, and said that he had heard that Wakefield wanted an infectious diseases hospital.
He asked to see the plans of the proposed building, and said that if the corporation were really anxious to proceed with the scheme he would give £71,000, the estimated cost, less
£SOOO which it had been proposed to spend on a makeshift scheme, and £4,5(X), the value of the site, which the corporation already owns. The man who made the offer forbade that his name should be disclosed.
The general purposes committee of Wakeneld Council accepted the offer and decided to proceed with the erection of the hospital. ,
