BOXING
THE HOKITIKA ASSN,
A meeting of the Boxing Association was held when All 1 J. Stafford presided.
The Secretary was instructed to arrange for the use of the baths for the evening of March 30th. and for special lighting forthe ring.
It was decided that Mr F. O'Neill be written to asking him to officiate as referee, on that occasion. Mr R. Furness was authorised to procure new boxing gloves for the professional contest. It was decided to donate one set of gloves to the gymnasium. Messrs R Lynn and P. Kidd donated medals for competition,, the oilers being received with thanks. The Secretary reported that arrangements were complete for the professional contest of fifteen rounds between Johnnie Leckie of Napier, and Harry Johns, of Auckland, also that Rave Chisholm and George Mclntosh had both agreed to box a preliminary of three rounds. He also stated that inquiries were being made for reserved seats.
The Committee decided to make appointments of officials at the next meeting to conduct the tourney and finalise arrangements.
