SPORTSMAN INJURED. JOURNEY THROUGH BUSH. (By Telegraph — tt. Press Association/ WELLINGTON, March 14. William Aldrich, labourer, aged 28, who lives in Seddon Street, Upper Hutt, received a compound fracture or the left thigh and a severely lacerated wound to the left knee when a pea-rifle was discharged accidentally yesterday morning. Mr Aldrich, with a friend, was pigshooting in Whiteman’s Valley when the accident occurred, well back in the ranges. His companion hastened to the nearest homestead, three miles away, and returned with a stretcher ami rescue party. The injured man, who in the meantime had been made as comfortable ns possible, was carried through the hush to the road, the journey occupying scvoral hours. A Free Ambulance van was waiting, and after reeeivinb medical attention. Mr Aldrich was removed to the hospital. His condition last night was reported to be satisfactory.
