CLASH FEARED WITH THE LANGITE FORCES. (Australian Press Associat'on.) SYDNEY, March 14 A message from “The World,” news paper’s Canberra correspondent says. The Commonwealth Government are taking adequate precautions to deal with any disorder in New South Wales between the Lang forces and the New Guard after the proclamation of the Financial Agreement Enforcement Bill A secret investigation has just finished, and deep concern is felt by the Federal Government as to the possibility of a clash occurring between the rival organisations at Sydney. The, Commonwealth proposes to swear in special peace officers at a moment’s notice should trouble arise. ALLEGATIONS REPEATED. COL. CAMPBELL AND POLICE. My statement that a sergeant of police was promoted for his activities in connection with the Lane Cove case have been denied.”
Colonel Campbell then told how -i Sergeant Clark had called at the New Guard headquarters and showed Campbell a crown on his arm, saying: “Its an ill wind that blows nobody any good,” and, pointing to the crown, said, “I got that out of your prosecution.”
OUTCOME OF PETITION. LONDON, March 14. The “Sun-Herald” service states that it is difficult to see how the petition for the removal of Mr Lang will meet with response here. The decision obviously rests with His Majesty the King and his intimate advisers, apart from the British Cabinet, and upon the confidential communications between His Majesty and Sir Philip Game, The real issue may hinge on the precedent which will be created,' if Mr Lang wore removed.
