HOSPITAL BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING ALTERATIONS TO DISTRICTS.
The Board held the monthly mcet.ng at 8.15 p.m. Present: Messrs JJ. Breeze (Chairman), G. Davidson, y •\ R. Elcock B. AV. Heenan, W. Jef- ‘ fries, 11. Meharry, T. W. Duff. W. Zvenden, H. Wells andyM. Keenan. f-'The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. 4. s -\ : Inward Correspondence. From Minister of Public Health, - Wellington, approving of agreement with Waiho Public Works Committee. —Received. From Same in reference to proposed capital expenditure for the coiiuhg year. —Received. The Board had notified that there would be no capital expenditure next year. From Hospital Department, Wellington, notifying the total subsidy for the rear that the Board would receive would be' £2611/8/11, and stating an advance oil next year’s subsidy of £4OO bad been grahted.—Received. The , Treasurer reported-the advance had »*- ready come to hand. From Wellington Hospital Board and Hospital Boards’ Association in connection with the proposed- alterations to Hospitals and Hospital Boards districts.— Received. A general discussion followed in which Messrs- Davidson, Duff, Keenan, the Chairman;* Evenden, Elcock and Heenan took part, each making strong-.objection to the proposals brought forward in connection with Dr. Begg’s scheme, and it was resolved to make a strenuous oh jeetion to the proposal, lieing dealt with in a hurry at the- present session of Parliament before the' proposals have had the proper consideration of Hospital Boards. Mr Jeffries differed from the remarks of the other speakers, being of the opinion that Dr. Begg’s proposals were worthy of the very best consideration of the Board. The Grey Hospital Board wrote stat- - jog that no further payments of arrears bad been made by the Timber Workers Union and stating no further agreement with the Union, until these payments had been made.— Received ( and approved. From Miss AL Downey, resigning the position as nurse at the Hosptal:Received and accepted. From Matron 'Strongman,, reporting that Airs Rouse (cook) had left hexposition, and her place had been filled by the appointment of All's Henderson. From Aliss AL Kenning, applying for annual leave. —Received; request granted; Prom Miss Jessie Memmait. resignihg position as wardshmid. —Received and accepted. It was reported by the Matron that Miss Glayds McAllister, had been appointed to fill the vacancy. Iu was resolved to request payment of month’s salary in lieu of notice. r From Surgeon Superintendent of Westland Hospital, reporting on January 31 there were 33 patients. Admitted during February. 15 males. 11 females; total treated. 27 males, 32 females—oo. Discharged mired 12 nv-Fs, 12 females; relieved, 1 male; died, 3 females. Total discharged 28. In Hospital on 29th February, 14 males, 17 females; total 31. Tn hospital for two months, 8 males, 10 females —18. —Received. Accounts amounting’ to £339/9/2 were passed for payment. The next meeting of the Board to fix the estimates, was fixed for 11th April and tile ordinary meeting on the 25tli.
