ROSS SALE YARDS. INAUGURAL FIXTURE. Yesterday at the above township the recently erected saleyards were opened by the holding of the first sale of stock in the Borough. A good attendance of persons I from -the town and districts adjoining were present and a fair yarding of stock came forward, but lio outstanding pens of quality either in sheep or cattle were on offer. The yards were formally opened by the Mayor of Ross, Mr John Murdoch, at 1.30 p.m., who recounted in bis address the history of 'the venture and asked for the co-opera-tion of outlying districts in maintaining the yards in the future. W. Jeffries and Co. report their entry as comprising 40 head of cattle, 3 weaner pigs. 3 horses and 6 rams, all of which were cleared at satisfactory prices. The following being the range— Weaner pigs to 10s, Romney ranis two guineas, three guineas and four guineas ; light harness may" £2O; draught gelding UlO 10s ; forward beef steers £7, £6 ss, i£6. Ditto licit'.• s £6 7s 6(1, £5, and £-1 17 6d. Run . r £6 and £3. Empty cows £3 valid £2 ss. 18 month steers £2 10s. 2 yeay 1.-ifer £2 19s. Oow and runner £5. Sieve runners £2 ss.
