MURDER SUSPECT
ARRESTED BY DETECTIVES. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, March 9. A months’ painstaking investigation, during which detectives disguised as tramps travelled New So urn Wales, has been rewarded by the arrest of a young man, now charged with the murder of Alexander Barrie, at Paddington. A cable on December 14th. last, slaved that two men bound and gagged Mr Alexander Barrie, a man 75 years «i age, at his home j« Paddington, and then battered his head fatally, His wife rushed to his aid, and she was brutally attacked, receiving injuries which are expected to be fatal. Robbery is supposed to have been tlie object, as it is reported tnat Mr Barrie was fairly well to do. and that, he kept a large sum of money in the house, where he had lived for many years because he feared to deal with the banks.
