TRADE TREATY
DELAY IN CANADA. s (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 8. Numerous inquires having been made as to when the Canadian trade agreement- 1 is likely to come before the House the Hon. W. Dow-nie Stewart stated: “So far as New Zealand is concerned I have been ready to submit the agreement to Parliament ever ever since it opened. -Some delay has occurred at the Canadian end. I have cabled to Mr Stevens several times stating that we are ready to complete the matter. I gather from his last reply that he had difficulty in getting it submitted for approval by the Canadian Cabinet, owing to pressing political problems taking precedence. He promised to cable in a few days and I ain awaiting his reply.” ' NEW ZEALAND AND CANADA. OTTAWA, March 9. Hon. H. W; Stevens announced that -the House of Commons would be given a statement regarding the position in Canada in respect to the New Zealand treaty -in the course of a few days. It is unofficially reported that the Government may suggest a delay until after the Imperial Coni'e-re nee.
