On December 30, 1931, news from Easton, in Pennsylvania, stated that an apparently elaborate anti-Fascisc plot, to, kill prominent Italian financiers, editors and diplomats throughout the Eastern ..United States, lias been exposed, with murderous results when one of a number of packages that were mailed in a local post office exploded, killing two, and injuring two and wrecking the interior of the building. Later a powder expert of tho Dupont Company, who was examining another of the packages, for detectives, was fatally injured when that also exploded.' i’lie police intercepted and successfully exploded four explosive packages in Chicago. addressed to persons not revealed. Signor Durante and officers of the associated press attempted to- head off a fifth bomb known to have been sent to Consul Castruccio. Further bombs were received by Italian Consuls at Detroit, Youngstones, and Ohio. Heavy guards were set about the Italian and Argentlie Embassies at Washington,
