CYCLING

AN EVENING MEETING. The Hokitika Cycling Club held another popular evening gathering on Cass Square last evening when a, five mile cycle race, one of a series for the Turner Cup, was held. The Municipal Band was in attendance and played a number of enjoyable items, there being a good attendance of onlookers, the evening being a' very pleasant one. The result of the race was as follows ; j. Havill (sc-r.) 1 E. Olsen (300 yds.) 2 R. Olsen (200 yds.) 3 Also started.— E. Cook (scr), Iv. Hewlett (200 yds), K. Hamilton (300 yds), C. Cook (500 yds). Won by two lengths in a good finish. Hamilton retired but the rest of the field ended -strongly within thirty yards of each other.
