Observing .some desire for a change in the personnel of the Unemployment Committee, relating to the secretaryship, inquiry elicits very little reason for any change. It may be that it is personal, hut nothing has come to the surface to .suggest any valid reason for a change. On the contrary, from the opinions gleaned there is nothing hub complete satisfaction expressed for the attention given by a painstaking secretary. The work is well done, and ail records are faithlully kept. It is difliciiltj to conceive any rc»nn for a change, and mcVst of the members of the Committee consider that the unemployed are fortunate in having one in charge of the finance who is so scrupulously fair in the allocation of tile weekly amount. It is very rarely of late owing to the numbers of men enrolled, that there is full time for all, and the duty devolves on the secretary of apportioning the amount in the fairest manner possible. The piesent secretary has shown an earnest desire tb be fait* in tins matter, and actually the moil are fortunate that one is disposed to do the work without fear or favour, but with the sole desire to do justice to all. It has to be remembered also that tins work discharged so faithfuly for the benefit of all concerned, is being done without aiiy recompense. Much extra work has been thrown on the sees rotary, and lie has not spared himself in any way, working early and bite so that the week’s work may he discharged within the time for the service of all, and so the ordinary official duties may not be neglected. There is much detail in the office work relating to the administration of unemployment. hut nothing has been neglected and the ordinary duties of the office' have - been carried on without detriment to the civic administration. It is true that- capable assistance has been obtained to help with the work, but this is only because of the volume of work in regard to the details of records and payments within a .stipulated time. Actually the community is receiving first class service in regard to the official administration for which praise and not blame is due.
