ATMORE’S ATTACK ALLEGED DIRTY TACTICS. ißy Ttlegraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 9. The Address-in-Itepiy debate was continued in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr J. Hargest (Ind., Invercargill), in his maiden' speech, said that although reference to trade with tiie Soviet was regarded askance, he believed in the bulk purcnase off motor spirit from Russia, thereby establishing credits here. That would enable the Soviet to buy our wool, and was worthy of consideration. Another maiden speech was made by Mr A. Stuart (C., Rangitikei), who expressed regret that so much tim» had been wasted in the House, talking about practically nothing. An attack on the Government was made by Mr H. Atmore (ind., Nelson), who referred to the last election in the Nelson and Motueka districts. He said that although the cry of Coalition was for the people’s good, there had never been much dirty tactics used as those used against himself and Mr Black. Continuing, lie declared "that the time had arrived when tlnn'e should be shorter hotirs ill industry, hut ths (?0V« eminent refused to face the position. There was no such thing as progress in its look-out. Ho accused the Cabinet of procrastination, and ’■.shilly-shally-ing.
The debate adjourned on the motion of Mr D. S. Reid (0., Raglan), and the House rose at 11.59; pan;
