SIX MONTHS FOR THEFT. AUCKLAND. March 3. When a man named Leslie Dickson. 2fi, appeared in the Police Court, charged with stealing a handbag from a woman, and alternatively, with theft from the person, be pleaded guilty to the first charge. Detective Sergeant Kelly announced that lie proposed to proceed with the second charge.
The Magistrate (Mr Hunt): “Why? This is only a 40s case. Why should' the whole machinery of the. The jury have to be paid, and tin' Crown Prosecutor I can deal with the case in a lew minutes. Detective-Sergeant Kelly: “‘Very well. I will leave the matter in Your Worship’s hands." Mr Hunt sentenced the man to six months’ imprisonment.
