SINKING OF THE BREEZE
report Withheld. / By Telegraph —Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, March 2. Reports from the Lyttelton Harbour-, master (Captain Hunter) on the sinking of the Breeze, by the New Zealand division of the navy have been withheld from publication. The Lyttelton Harbour Board discussed the' matter in committee. Mr F. .E. .Sutton moved that discussion be taken in committee. “This matter is one where criticism is levelled at our /Navy, which we respect a great deal,” he said. “In fairness to them and to om'selves, we should not make this report public.” The Secretary stated that a letter on the subject had been received from Commodore Geoffrey Blake. The letter expressed appreciation of the services of the Board’s tug. He deeply regretted that circumstances prevented the destruction of the Breeze as originally planned. It was satisfactory to hear that the wreck was not likely to prove detrimental to the facilities of the port.
