COURT AWARDS £IBSO. CLAIM EY A FARMER. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 26. After a four days’ 'hearing in a claim for £4175, compensation for laud taken and allegedly injuriously affected in the construction of the Taw a Flat railway deviation, made by David Rowell, a farmer, against the Minister for Public Works, the Court to-dav delivered judgment awarding claimant ,£l-850.
CEMENT WORKS CLOSE. AUCKLAND, Feb. 28. Owing to the slump in the building trade, Wilson’s (New Zealand) Portland Cement Company has closed its works at Portland temporarily. It is expected that the works will be rooooned not later than March.
