A STEVENSON RELIC.

A Robert Louis Stevenson relic of more than usual interest, Stevenson’s piano, was recently discovered in a Devonport home and is now in the possession of Atwater’s Piano Company, Ltd. The piano, which is definitely authenticated with the auctioneer’s certificate, was matle specially for Stevenson by the firm of Poerner and Son, Stuttgart, and was designed by them to withstand safely the tropical conditions of Samoa. It is of black ebony, with ornamental patterns in inlaid gold, and both the candlesticks and handles are of massive and elaborate design. Screws are tv ed throughout the framework in place of the usual glue, and so strongly is the instrument built that- ft was sold with other of Stevenson’s property at Apia, in 1898, some four years after its owner’s death. Ite present owners are communicating with a T/ondon firm which has made .a specialty of handling mementoes of the famous author.
