WORKERS’ TEACHING
NO GRANT FROM DEPARTMENT .MINISTER REFUSES REQUEST WELLINGTON, Feb. 25. Regretfully the Minister of Education, (Hob R. .Masters), informed a deputation from the Workers Education Association that he is unable to accede to; the request that the decision not to make a grant to the Association this year should be reversed. All questions of Government activity at present were bound up with finance, : in which respect, the Government was working as if it were on shifting sand. ‘‘lt appears to me,” he remarked, “that those who arc so keenly interested in adult education could be reasonably asked at a time like this to spend a great amount than 2s 6d per annum on securing the education which the Workers’ Education Association is providing for them.
