LOSS OF ROTITI
SEAWORTHY AND WELL FOUND

WELLINGTON, February 25.
The opinion that the IKotiti, when slie left Westport on her last trip, was seaworthy and well found, and that 1 her loss was not caused or contributed to, by any act or default on the part of ■the master, crew, or owners, is expressed by tlte (Marine Court which has been inquiring into her loss. The Count makes certain recommendations in respect to proper stowing of deck cargo, and prevention of coal, and other mobile cargoes, shifting in heavy seas.
From the position of various articles that came ashore, and in consideration of the wind and tides prevailing throughout the relevant period, it is considered that the vessel was lost at a approximately due west ol Cape Farewell.
The Court considers that a probable cause of jthe loss ol the vessel might have been the shifting of coal, or cargo, in heavy seas.
