Three additional cases of infantile paralysis were notified in Canterbury district this morning making fourteen for the year, as against one for the whole of last year. Richard Paraika Lovett and Ernest Good who pleaded guilty to breaking and entering premises at Taumaruniu on Christmas Day, and stealing a cheque for £1 8s 9d, and four bottles of beer at the Supreme Court, Hamilton, this morning were admitted to j probation for one year.- The offences | were the outcome of a Christmas . drinking bout.
METHODIST CONFERENCE. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 23 The Methodist Conference dtoussed .Ministers stipends and decided to leave the matter to Ministers and the laymen of circuits with a view to an agreement for a temporary ten per cent, reduction, except in cases where less than the minimum stipend was already being paid. The question will be reviewed at the conference next venr. '
