It would he a good tiling for New Zealand if this country’s market were extended to Japan,” said Mr Isao Hashimoto, of Tokyo, who is at present in New Zealand investigating 'the possibility of increased trade between Japan and New Zealand. .Mr Hashimoto. who represents a Hr in of merchants, stated to a“Post” reporter that Japan could take wool, hides, skins, butter, and beef. There was a big demand for fresh beef, though mutton was not very popular with the Japanese. Most of the butter at present imported into Japan came from Canada, and the beef from Australia. Japan "-as in a position 1.0 export general merchandise to New Zealand, Air Hashimoto has spent a fortnight in the North Island, and before returning to Japan next month lie hopes to visit the South Island.
