A decade of stern maintenance of law an ( | order made bitter enemies, and careful management of the finance alienated a multitude of electors who anticipated that the Irish Government to lie a “milch goat”. Cosgrave’s Government lias shown the incredulous world that Irishmen can govern their own country, and govern well. The most likely prospect is I.hnl the Fiaiina Fail and Labour Government are steering for a few months through increasing troubles t.o another general election. LABOUR PARTY’S DECISION. LONDON, February 22. A Dublin message states that the Irish Labour Party have announced that they will put President Cosgrave out and NR- De Valera in. They will put the Fianna Fail Party in a position of dependence, as they will impose strict limitations to the Republican programme j particularly with regard to tinkering with the Treaty, though this is li'rilikely to prove nnf obstacle to the idUa.Hce between the Labour and the Repaid I eiut Parties, ns Mr 'De Valera has already announced that he will again consult the electors before denouncing the Treaty. On the present prospects Mr De Valera will have a voting majority in the new Assembly of at least seven members; but he may have only three, as indeed the final result- may depend op the polling in Leitrim.
