WOOS. AND WINS A TURK. CONSTANTINOPLE ROMANCE. The story of a real “East-meets* West" romance hot ween a young Eng* liah millioMiross of 20, and a Turk of 22, lias been told in Constantinople. An English woman, young, beautiful, and recently widowed and trying to forget, soon became popular with the resident British and American families in Stamboul. At one of their parties she made the acquaintance of a voting Turk of good family, speaking perfect English. She quickly formed a friendship with him. But. so far no ripple of love disturbed the surface of the couple’s relations. Only, just before the day fixed by the young widow for her departure, they agreed to write to each other. Alter a while the correspondence took an a ffeHi ornate turn. The young widow had fallen in love with her correspondent, and wished to join her life with his. As a birthday present from tne enamoured widow, the man received a cheque for £30,000 for a motor-car. Not to he outdone in generosity, with the cheque he opened a bank account in the woman’s mime, and the car he deposited in a garage, equally disclaiming ownership. The widow was so impressed by this action that she wrote and told him that she herself had already transferred her whole fortune to his name. The young Turk meditated no longer ; he decided to marry his benefac tress who has bought him a villa on the shores of the Bosphorus. As soon as their home is ready in this romantic setting, the young and now really merry widow will letiirn to Constantinople, where their marpin go will he celebrated.
