HAWERA’S JUBILEE
CELEBRATIONS COMMENCED. (By Telegraph,—Per Press Association) HAW ERA. February 22. Hawora yesterday commenced its Jubilee celebrations of the establishment of the borough in 1882. An overflowing audience attended a thanksgiving service held in the afternoon, and the evening, the sacred compositions “Oratorio,” and “The Creation” were sung by a massed choir. From Wednesday, a series of carnival attractions has been arranged daily for the rest of the week, the town being decorated gaily with bunting, and buildings festooned with coloured lights.
