HOKITIKA SUB-ASSOCIATION

SENIOR COMPETITION CONCLUDED.

The Hokitika Cricket Sub-Associa-tion has decided to close its senior competition, of which the Kanieri Club has been announced the winners. Two rounds have now been completed, with the exception that Ross and Hokitika did not meet in the flist round.

The position of the teams is as follows ■ —Kanieri / wins, 18 points; ivimu 4 wins, 9 points; Ruatapu 4 wins, one tie, 8 points; Hokitika 2 wins, 5 points; Ross one tie, 1 point. Kanieri as the winner of the competition, is now entitled to play Marists, the winner of the competition in Grey mouth, and the match will be played at an early date. Now that the third round lias been abandoned, it is suggested that interrepresentative fixtures among the southern division teams should be played, such as Rimu and Hokitika v. Ruatapu and Ross, and the match be played on the day that Kanieri is engaged at Greymouth. Inquiries are also, on foot concerning a representative match between the Hok'iltika. a n d Greyntouth Associations.

The junior competition is in a xeij interesting position. Rimu has 8 points, with one match to he played, Ross is next with three games to go, while Hokitika and Kiwi each have five noints, and each as four matches to play. Matches yet to he played in the second round are: Hokitika v. Ross, at Ross on 'February 21st.; Kiwi v. Hokitika. The draw for the remaining matches in the third round is as follows: Hokitika v. Ross at Ross; Hokitika v. Kiwis at Hokitika; Kiwis v. Rimu at Hokitika; Kiwis v. Ross at Ross.

PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH.

RAIN CAUSES POSTPONEMENT

DUNEDIN, February 19. The commencement of the Plunket Shield cricket match between Otago and Wellington was postponed to noon. Considerable rain felll overnight, but the wicket at Oarisbrook was playable. A drizzle at 11 o’clock, however, was the determining factor i n the deferment.

DUNEDIN, February 19. The cricket match was further postponed till 1.30.
