FARM WORKER INJURED

WHAKATANE, Feb. 3.

A middle-aged farm, hand, Peter Donnelly, met with, a serious accident while hay-making at D. L. Murray’s property, at Thornton, to-day. The breaking of a rope caused a stacker to fall, striking Donnelly and fracturing his skull. He was conveyed to Wlialcatane Hospital. His condition is reported to be serious. The injured man came' from Ireland a few years ago, and has been employed by Murray for two years.

They were committed to the Supreme Court on charges of breaking, entering and theft.

WELLINGTON, Feb. 3

At a meeting of the Dominion Executive of the Farmers’ Union, a motion that award wages in New Zealand should be varied at regular periods according to the rise or fall in the cost of living figures as operating in Australia was deferred for further information.
