AMUSEMENTS.

IVKRYBODYB PICTURES. “THE RACKETEER.” Mingling the drama and sinister influence.;of the underworld with the culture and extravagant contentment of society, “The Racketeer,” starring Robert Armstrong and featuring Carol Lombard, which comes to the Princess Theatre to-night, presents a romance that for entertainment) and colour is one of the most effective all-dialogue pictures that has thu s far been produced. With Robert Armstrong in the role of the racketeer and Carol Lombard playing the leminine lead, this Pathe production takes its audience into its grip from the opening scene and retains its interest until its highly effective and dramatic finish. Armstrong is perfectly cast as the racketeer. His suave .manner, covering a character that packs dynamite in every switt, dangerous move, keeps the audience on edge with »suspense, wondering what will happen next. Yet, the romantic side of his character inspires the hope that he will get the breaks. 'Carol Lombard, as the girl who is torn between the love of a dissipated musican and gratitude for this smartly dressed wolf of the underworld, is said to give her finest performance to date. Others in the cast, 'all of whom acquit themselves as sterling actors, are Roland Drew, as the musican; Kit Guard as the racketeers’ right-hand man; Hedda Hooper as a society woman; A 1 Hill as a chauffeur; Jeanette Loff a society flapper; Paul Hurst as a pauper and John Loder as a rich idler. Good supports. Prices 2s 3d and Is 6d. Children 6d downstairs.
