Once again the Ninety Mile Beach has. become a scene of inactivity for about ten days and most of the officials have left to return to Auckland. They will come back on or about February 3rd.
1 It is understood that the attempt o.n the flying mile and the five mile records will take place between February 4h. and February 6th.

It says: The honour is shared by the sponsor and guarantor, Messrs Stewart arid Harkness, and every workman aiding in the car’s construction. For the second time since Smith 'came to Ninety Mile Beach, in the New Year, all activities have ceased and officials of the Auckland A.ntomobilo Racing Club, and some members of Smith’s party have returned to Auckland. i A decision' was reached late yesterday afternoon and immediately the timing officials left for Auckland. The others are leaving to-morrow and later in the week. to return on February 3rd.
, Attempts on the five and flying mile records will take place between Feb. 4th. and 6th. During the intervening days,, the tide will be unsuitable for any runs, and a decision was reached that the more delicate parts of the timing apparatus should he lodged in the Bank at Kaitaia. The van will be cared for by two mechanics who are -staying at the garage. Smith will probably be staying at Waipapakauri to keep an eye on the Enterprise, although no more work will be done to the ear. The Post Office closed down last night, but will re-open when the officials return.
