South Australia in the second innings against the South Africans carried their overnight score of 380 for eight wickets to 430 runs.

South Australia displayed a stubborn tail end. Grimmett advancing from thirty-eight to sixty-three not out. He batted for 113 minutes, scoring two fours and one five. The South Africans tried five howlers in the three-quarters of an hour the South Australians remained in, Balaskas taking the last two wickets.

South Africa required 116 to win, when they began thejr second innings. In the cricket match, -South Australia became hopeful when Christy uas clean bowled by Wall in his first over. Taylor, however, altered the complexion of the game by playing a superb, chanceless innings. He showed scant respect for Grimmett, off whom he scored off drives by artistic batting. His innings Lasted for eighty-eight minutes. He hit nine fours.
