Cook, fihe weather conditions were ideal for the climb. TWO PARTIES ON SUMMIT. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) TIMARU, January 26. On Friday last, January 22nd, after a week of waiting, Mount Cook was successfully ascended via the Linda. Glacier route, by two parties. The first, of these parties comprised Miss Jda M. Corry, of the English Ladies’ .Alpine Club, along with Chief Guiae Williams of the Mt. Cook Hermitage, end Chic. Guide Alack of the Fox Glacier Hostel. The second party, comprised of the following: Mr L. Mahan (leader), Mr L. K. Murray and Mr A. Dewar ;(Timaru) and Mr L. V. Bryant (O'amaru). Two previous attempts were made during the week to scale Mt. Cook, but they were frustrated owing to adverse weather. Both parties lift the Haast Hut at one a.m., on Die 22nd. After a hard fight against the wind, the summit was reached at 11 o’clock, and tb® Haast Hut was reached again at 7 p.m. This is believed to be the largest party that has ever stood on top of the s ummit together.
