ALLEGED THEFT
DETECTIVES IN HIDING.
AUCKLAND. January 23
Two detectives hid in a quarry at -Mount Jioskill last night and at two o’clock this morning heard a motor truck arrive. Lying in the grass, they matched two men walk to a benzine store. The detectives waited and then crept up and surprised the men us they wore pyrepnring, \ h is alleged, to syphon benzine from a drum. At the Polite Court, Harry Lawrence M’Quoid, agc»l 26, and Walter Alexander Amos Scott, aged 2P. wer 0 ohnrpr°d with stealing benzine on January 20 and 22, and attempting to steal it today. The accused were remanded till Wednesday.
