EXCHANGE POOL
DENOUNCED BY DAIRY COMPANYS
(By Teleyraph—Per Press Association)
HAWERA, January 22. The executive of the Federation of Taranaki Co-operative Dairy Coy’s decided yesterday to write, to Hon. G. W. Forbes stressing, on behalf of the dairy industry in Taranaki, strong oppoition to the continuance of the exchange pool or any system, preventing, exchange rates finding their natural level.
It was contended that as .primary production represented nearly, 98 per cent of the Dominion’s exports, any interference with the exchange rates, operating adversely to farming interests, was unjustifiable. It appeared that the Government in establishing the pool, had created a situation detrimental to primary productionthat commercial interests which were formerly opposed to the control of dairy produce, were now agreeing to the application of a similar principle in connection with exchange rates.
