SEMI-FINAL GAME. [By Telegraph, Per Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, January 22. Playing well below form, Tvalker’s Auckland Club rink, who up till then had had no loss, were decisively defeated by Dear© (Dunedin Club) in one of the final games of the Dominion rink championship to-day. Had Walker won the game, with the wjn would gone the championship, as Deare had had one loss. At it w, another game -betwen. these two rinks will he played this afternoon and will constitute the final. Walker’s rink looked anything hu-t champions on their form this morning. The skip’s running shots were comparatively poor and his inaccurate drawing was m sharp contrast to his previous form. The failure of the Auckland rink was due just as much to a severe falling off in de Launay’s play. Ihe Auckland third played like a second rater. Deare’s rink who had a fine lead in Gregory, played their usual consistent and accurate game. The first sharp turn of scoring in Deare’s favour was on the third or fourth head. It is now certain the tournament will not finish this afternoon, and will have to be continued to-morrow, owing to the number of games yet to he decided in the pairs competition. Both pairs and singles were advanced a further stage to-day. The semi-final of the .singles between Scott (Caledonian, and exDominion champion) and Routley of Kelburn, attracted keen interest. Scott won by 21 to 17. Other results of pairs championship —winners of greens, Barrington green (Section I£.): — Bremuer and ldardley (West End, Auckland) 25, heat Bailey and Worsley (Ilorby) 17. .Sumner green (Section I): —Edwards and Hunt (Temuka) 25, beat Mackay and Forster (Caversham) 11. SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP. CHRISTCHURCH, January 22. Accurate driving on the part of Scott (Caledonian) was mainly responsible for the defeat of Routley (Kelburn), in one of the final games of the singles championship this morning. Both men were about equal in drawing in a tricky wind, hut Scott kept Routley’* score down by full hoard drives when the head was not in his favour, and lie thus burnt several. Roiitley’s method of attempting to save n head was by a yard-on shot. Scott won by lour points, time being called after the twentieth head.
