LARGE ARMY
ORGANISATION IN GERMANY. ALLEGATIONS IN FRANCE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) PARIS, January 21. The sensational allegation that Germany is ’now preparing a powerful army, contrary to the Versailles Treaty, was made by General Bourgeois before the Chamber of Deputies’ Foreign Affairs Committee. General Bourgois is a member of a commission which the French Senate recently appointed to study armaments.
Ho also declared that Germany is organising her industry and her armaments on parallel lines, thereby enabling an extremely rapid mobilisation in case of need. Germany, ho said, was also actively inculcating the spirit of revenge even among the school children.
Senator Eeeard declared that tlie (jlerman military expenditure that was disguised end hidden was far larger than that which was shown in the budget. Germany was simultaneously doing her utmost to persuade the world that, whereas she had disarmed, France was arming to the teeth. The revelation's made profoundly impressed the Committee. and they are likely still further •'to stiffen France’s attitude at the Disarmament Conference,
