A PAYING GAME
“BABE” RUTH AND BASEBALL. United press Association— By Electric Telegraph.—Co >yright.) NEW YORK, January 14. There is a variety of proofs that the depression has struck America. “Bahe” Ruth the famous baseball player, to-day returned unsigned a contract calling for seveinty thousand dollars payment for his baseball services for the year 1932. He said that a ten thousand dollar reduction under last year’s payment would be acceptable to him, hut he must have a two-year contract. The Baseball Club management recently declared: “Never again would there he a ‘hall’ player worth eighty thousand dollars.” An amicable adjustment, however is expected.
