A NOTABLE CLIMB

ASCENT OF BIG MAC. Advice has been received stating that Big Mac, a notable peak at the head of the Fox Glacier had been successfully climbed on Wednesday, January 13th, by Miss Ida Corry from England and Mr Jack Sharp of New South Wales, who were accompanied by Guides Alack and Christie from the Fox Glacier Hostel. The party left the Fox Glacier Hostel on Tuesday, and travelled a.s far as the Chancellor hut where the night was spent. The next day they made the llrst successful ascent of Big Mac at the head of the Fox Glacier. A very fine view was obtained, the scene being a magnificent one embracing the long line of the Southern Alps and the Coast line in the distance, the panorama disclosed bc-Tilg an entrancing one. The peak was climbed last yer.r by two guides, but this wa, s ;’„e ’-Lot occasion that a party had completed the ascent.
