PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP, In the first day’s play on Wednesday for the pairs competition at the N.Z. Tourney, D. Stevenson and W. Wilson (Hokitika) won their three games 14 to 11, 25 to 14 and 19 to 16. N. Leach (ftunanga) and S. Peek (Grey) also had three wins for the day. N. Dew and C. J. King (Hokitika) had 1 win and 2 losses. PAIRS SECTION WINNERS. (By Telegraph — Pt. Press Association) 'CHRISTCHURCH, January 14. ‘Sectional play ,ju the Bowring Association’s 1 . pairs championship was ooucluded to-day, and 28 players emerged as winners of their sections. As most of them however had to play otf fcieing with one or moro of their rivals on the five rounds of sectional play, it was in only three cases that section winners were able to play : matches that should have decided the winners of each green. Fourteen ultimate green winners will take part in the sectional play on the “.sudden death” principle next week. The section winners were ** ’ Buist, .
