BRUSSELS, January 14

Arson is suspected as the cause of a fire which destroyed the famous Surrascani Citrous at Antwerp.

There were terrifying scenes while two hundred horses, fifty-seven lions, sixteen tigers, twelve Polar hears and twenty-two dtphants were rescued. The keepers rushed in among the plunging beasts and released them from their foot chains, but it was impossible to release eleven ot tile animals, which were fatally burned. The damage exceeds thirty-thousand sterling. An anonymous threat to burn the Circus wa,s received yesterday. There has been much. controversy over allowing this foreign ciicus to enter the country at the time of economic crisis.
