Shortly after the Eastbourne ferry steamer “Mnritai’ left Wellington on a trip to the Bays last evening, the steering gear was carried away, with the engines still going. The vessel drifted, turning in circle® slowly up the harbour towards Kaiwarra. The Union Company’s tug “Natone” was sent to pick her up, and the steamer was brought back to berth shortly before six. It is expected that the “Muritai” will be running as usual this evening.
